Hospice of the Valley has a special program for Veterans. They are looking for Veterans (valley wide) who want to offer companionship to other veterans who are hospice patients. The not-for-profit agency's mission is bringing comfort and dignity as life nears its end. One out of four dying Americans is a veteran.  Free training is available and they have a person that is available to speak to organizations.  Please contact 602-636-6336 to volunteer.
Honor Flight Arizona 2012
Since 2009, this non-profit organization consisting of Veterans, volunteers and some corporate sponsors specializes in flying Arizona Veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their memorial at no cost to the Veteran.  To date, more than 81,000 Veterans have been accommodated nationwide.  Top priority is given to World War II vets, of which we have 300 on the Honor Flight waiting list in AZ.  The approximate all inclusive cost per veteran is $850.00.  There are volunteer as well as sponsorship opportunities currently available for the 2012 flying season.  Four honor flights are planned for this spring.  Contact Dave Frasier, honorflightmary@yahoo.com or 623.974.3238.
